I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My childhood was filled with trips to the local library, bedtime readings of Highlights for Children, and new episodes of Reading Rainbow—those were the days! Before long, my love of books inspired me to write stories and create my own adventures.
Storytelling has always been part of my life. My parents immigrated from Pakistan and Guyana, and our family gatherings were filled with stories about “back home” and building a life in America. Through those stories, I learned how storytelling can create connections, deepen understanding, and help us see the world through someone else’s eyes.
As a child psychologist, I’m continually inspired by the curiosity, strength, and joy that children bring to our lives. I write stories with heart, humor, and hope—stories that invite young readers to feel seen and heard.
I’m an active member of SCBWI, Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Picture Book Challenge, PB Rising Stars Collective, Kidlit Firefly and board secretary for Women Who Write, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Madison, New Jersey.
